The One with Career Day

The Little Lady's "summer camp" at her little school is coming to an end. For the past 2 months, each Tuesday has been "wear a certain color day" and each Thursday has been marked by some sort of special event, project or outfit.

Today is no exception. It is Career Day.

These toddlers and preschoolers were asked to dress up like whatever they want to be when they grow up. My child cannot comprehend this question. Is she supposed to be able to by now? Have I messed her up because I haven't yet told her that she will one day need to decide what she wants to spend the rest of her life doing? And that it will be work!

As it is, this kid thinks she has already been a grown-up. Not a day goes by where she doesn't start a sentence with, "When I was a grown-up."

So I asked her what she does want to be. In fact, I've asked her this question before, and the answer is always the same: a flower.

Who am I to dash all of her hopes and dreams?

With the job market for flowers in this economy? Forget it.
